Bi-directional Portable Automatic People Counting Using A Single Ultrasonic Range Finder

This paper presents a bi-directional portable automatic people counting devices. The proposed method is divided into two parts, the hardware part and signal processing algorithm part. The hardware part is implemented using a single ultrasonic range finder module, a low-cost module. The signal processing part using a data fitting method to identify the person and walking direction on the sensor signal. The evaluation is shown that the results of our method are accurate in both directions.
