Observed effects of electromagnetic fields action on yeast and bacteria cells attached to surfaces

The use of microorganism cells in lab-on-chip technologies requires efficient techniques for their attachment and preservation. Therefore, obtaining useful information about the changes in structure and characteristics of such microorganisms will help to understand the mechanisms of cell attachment to biocompatible surfaces, such as materials based on highly dispersed SiO
₂
. Our studies have shown the positive effect of a constant magnetic field at induction of 0.17 T and electromagnetic field of extremely high frequencies (EHF-EMF) of non-thermal intensity on the conservation of yeast cell shape on silicon and glass surfaces. On the example of discolored colonies of bacterial culture Brevibacterium sp. 90 H under the action of EHF-EMF, the biological effect of such radiation on cells was demonstrated.
