A Review on Cooling Techniques Used For Photovoltaic Panels

As we know sun is a huge source of energy, it's radiation on earth can be utilized by solar panels by converting it into useful form but photovoltaic cells could convert only a small fraction of the incident light and rest of the light gets converted into heat. All the wavelengths of light are not permissible to enter into earth's atmosphere and due to this a huge part of the radiation reflects back in the space the part which reaches the earth surface is utilized by solar panels to convert it into electricity .The PV panels are able to convert 20% of the radiation to Electricity, rest of the radiation gets converted in to heat which limits the performance of the PV cell . To get rid of these heat related problems or to reduce the heat generated by PV panels various cooling methodologies are used which includes heat pipe cooling passive cooling ,nano-fluids, active and passive cooling etc. This review paper analyzes all the major cooling techniques in detail and to conclude which one is best for highest efficiency of the system by cooling them as efficiency is dominantly affected by temperature.
