GPIO Over IP—AMWA IS-07 as a General-Purpose API that Easily Scales

As part of the Advanced Media Workflow Association’s (AMWA) Networked Media Open Specifications (NMOS) suite of specifications, Interface Specification (IS)-07 is intended to serve as a generic mechanism for the processing and handling of control and status indication data found in the next generation Internet Protocol (IP)-based television systems. The capabilities of IS-07 are greater than just the simple onand offstates that are typical of common general-purpose input/output (GPIO) schemes.
