A Universal Protector System for most of the ELF binaries against Vulnerabilities

Over the past few decades, vulnerability mitigation measures for the Linux platform have gradually raised the threshold for exploits. However, attackers can still bypass all current vulnerability mitigations and get a remote shell. In this paper, we implemented a universal protector system consists of a common code execution framework and a universal protection code for most of the ELF binaries against vulnerabilities. The protector system can automatically insert protection code into the ELF file and modify the program execution flow dynamically. The experimental results show that the protector system can successfully defend against the vulnerability and prevent attackers from getting a remote shell on the Linux platform.
