Analysis of the Effects of Conductivity on Small Antenna Characteristics

In this paper, the impact of metallic material conductivity used to build an Inverted F Antenna (IFA) is studied using both an improved antenna model described in our previous works [1], [2] and 3D electromagnetism simulation tool. The metal conductivity effect is shown on antenna efficiency and input impedance (quality factor) to evaluate the compliance of the realized model with fundamental limits of compact antennas. On the other hand, the model makes it possible to provide an interpretation to the observations made on the properties of the antenna.
