Polarization insensitive measurement of the fiber-optic nonlinear refractive index

This communication presents a novel cross-phase modulation method that allows one to measure the Kerr nonlinear index of common optical fibers with a high insensitivity to the polarization perturbations. The scheme is based on the use of an ortho-conjugated mirror (OCM).
