Motion-Blur-Free High-Frame-Rate Vision System with Frame-by-Frame Visual- Feedback Control for a Resonant Mirror

In this paper, an optical correction-based motion blur free imaging system is proposed to capture bright and clear high-speed images required for inspection of rapidly moving objects without relying on patterns. This system uses a viewpoint-velocity method as amplitude control visual-feedback for a resonant mirror. Edge-intensities of consecutive images captured at distinct viewpoint-velocities are used to calculate the blur-index of each image. Based on the blur-index, a visual-feedback signal is generated to control the amplitude of a resonant mirror so that it can match the velocity of an object to capture sharp image sequences. The effectiveness of the new vision system is demonstrated by passing various printed patterns on a high-speed conveyor belt. The proposed system can capture sharp images (1024×1024 pixels) of various patterns at 750 fps by reducing large motion-blurs at 7.5 m/s velocity.
