The Eagle (AN/APQ-7) and its assessment for ASV operation by RAF Coastal Command

The Eagle radar (AN/APQ-7) entered service with the USAF in 1945. It used the first electromechanically scanned airborne phased array. In 1946 the radar, installed on a Liberator VIII, was assessed by RAF Coastal Command for ASV use. The paper describes the radar scanner, the radar installation and the RAF trials results.
