Electromagnetic Emission of Maglev Vehicle by Linear Synchronous Motor

High-speed maglev adopts long-stator linear synchronous motor, which can realize train suspension and traction simultaneously by adjusting the air-gap magnetic field. However, the air-gap field will leak along the tangential direction of the motor. The electromagnetic emission of linear motor in maglev train carriage is studied through the establishment of three-dimensional linear motor finite element model combined with new high-speed maglev vehicle model. Originally in this paper, the leakage magnetic emission in the carriage is analyzed at different frequencies under normal working condition and abnormal working condition in which one side of the motor lacks a phase. The effect of the magnetic emission on passengers is evaluated through the relevant magnetic emission exposure limits. The results show that the magnetic emission meets the limits of ICNIRP and EN 45502-2-3 under normal working condition. But the low-frequency magnetic emission is shifted to the side of the phase-lacking motor under phase-lacking working condition, and the overall magnetic emission in the carriage is nearly 10 times larger, which has adverse effects on passengers wearing cochlear implants especially. Therefore, the abnormal phase-lacking condition should be avoided to ensure safety of passengers.
