Design of Meander Line Triple Band Antenna for Wireless Applications

A microstrip line fed meander line patch antenna has been designed on FR4 epoxy substrate with relative permittivity 4.4 and loss tangent 0.02 with thickness 1.6 mm. This novel antenna design gives a triple band solution for wireless application which covers WiFi and WiMAX frequency bands. Three different microstrip lines give three fundamental modes thus generating triple bands. The antenna exhibits satisfactory directivity and front to back ratio (FBR) at the resonant frequencies. The antenna is compact in size with layout area of $0.375 \lambda \times 0.375 \lambda$, where $\lambda$ is the free-space wavelength corresponding to the lowest resonance. The proposed structure has stable radiation pattern resembling dipole antenna. The characteristics of the antenna is suitable for MIMO applications.
