Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Thin Film of Carbon Disulfide between Diamond Plates

Within the method of classical molecular dynamics we study the kinetic and tribological properties of molecularly thin film of liquid carbon disulfide, consisting of one layer of molecules, squeezed by two atomically flat crystalline diamond surfaces. The model of elastic spheres for carbon disulfide molecules and absolutely hard diamond plates is treated. The time dependence of atomic level friction (substrate) forces at the interface is nonuniform. The directions of substrate forces can even be opposite. Fluctuations of kinetic energy and substrate force significantly ascent the regularity at the increase of load on the surfaces, this shows that liquid-like state transforms into solid-like.
