Design and Implementation of EMI Mitigation in GaN Based LED Driver

Vehicle electronics covers a wide range of applications from power train to infotainment. Day-time running light (DRL) is used to improve the visibility of the moving vehicles. Wide band gap device based converters for DRL applications, operating at very high frequencies, yields high performance, low profile converters. The low turn-on & turn-off time associated with WBG devices creates EMI interference that affects other vehicle electronic modules. This paper details the design of filters for mitigation of EMI in Gallium Nitride (GaN) based LED driver for Day-time Running Light (DRL) application. The performance improvement in EMI profile of the GaN converter, with the designed filter, is presented in this paper.
