A Coupled Inductor assisted Soft-Switching Interleaved Boost Converter

In this paper, a coupled inductor assisted zero-voltage transition interleaved boost converter is presented. The converter includes a dedicated auxiliary switch, a diode, and a coupled inductor for each phase of the interleaved converter. To ensure turn-ON of the primary switches with zero-voltage transition, the additional switches are activated before the gating signal is applied to their respective primary switch. The presence of coupled inductor in series with a voltage multiplier capacitor facilitates zero-current switching of all the diodes, thus alleviating their reverse recovery losses. Additionally, the coupled inductor structure ensures soft turn-ON as well as soft turn-OFF of the additional switches. A 24-200V, 100W converter, working at a frequency of 100 kHz is constructed to validate the theoretical studies.
