A Compact Size Low Noise Amplifier for GNSS upper L Band

In this paper, a novel topology of a low noise amplifier (LNA) for the GNSS upper L band ranging from 1.559-1.61 GHz is presented. The designed LNA works in the frequency range 1.53-1.73 GHz having a gain of 10.3 dB and exhibits a minimum noise figure of 0.9 dB. In realizing the LNA, pHEMT transistor is used for the high linearity, high gain and low noise. The low values of input and output return losses reflect the suitability of the matching networks at the input and output of the LNA. High degree of linearity is achieved with output 1-dB compression (P_1dB) at +5 dBm and output third order intercept (OIP₃) at +17.363 dBm.
