Performance Analysis of a Single Neuron based Adaptive PID and Conventional PI Controller based PMBLDC Motor Drive

Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) Motor Drives have been considered as highly demanded motor drives for the next decades. The motor control and its speed estimation are difficult due to trapezoidal field pattern. Based on Single Neuron, an Adaptive PID (SNAPID) Controller is designed to control motor speed in this paper. Effectiveness of the controller is tested through simulation in C++ environment. The obtained results are compared with those obtained with fixed PI controller. It is seen that proposed controller works satisfactorily meeting the high performance drive requirement.
