Estimation of the Effect of Multiplicative Noise on Signal Detection against the background of Additive Noise

Analysis of evaluation of influence of multiplicative noise on detection of useful signals with both known and unknown initial phase under influence of additive noise is performed by receiving device. The analysis uses a receiver model comprising N channels by signal arrival time or frequency. It is shown that it is possible to distinguish between two cases of detection of a signal in a true channel and detection of presence of a signal. Characteristics of output signal of optimum receiver are obtained for cases of signal with known initial phase. The case of fluctuation multiplicative noise was dealt with separately. It is shown that the statistical characteristics of signals are determined by the waveform and the function of noise. The Neiman-Pearson criterion is used in determining the characteristics of the output signal for the cases of a signal with a continuous initial phase. Graphs of probability of signal detection at fluctuation multiplicative noise depending on parameters of noise at different values of probability of detection and false alarms in absence of noise are obtained. It is shown that the degree of influence of multiple noises on signal detection depends both on noise parameters and on parameters of signals themselves.
