What Motives Learner to Learn in MOOC? An Investigation of Chinese University MOOC

Learning motivation plays an important role in improving the learning quality of MOOC learners. An investigation and analysis of the learning motivation of 1562 Chinese University MOOC (i-Course) learners was conducted by using Unconstrained Adult Online Learning Motivation Scale. The results show that the levels of learning motivation in the six dimensions, which are cognitive interest, career development, interpersonal relationship, getting rid of routine, external influence and social service. All six of them are in the upper-middle level. Among them, the motivation level of cognitive interest and social service are higher than others. Beacuse of this, the curriculum should take specific measures.
