LPV Modeling of Boost Converter and Gain Scheduling MPC Control

This paper proposes a modeling time-varying dc-dc converters in linear parameter variant (LPV) form. The LPV model is able to describe almost any nonlinear system since the system matrix is time-varying. The proposed modeling allows taking into account the uncertainties of the system and common specifications of power and load. The main contribution of this work is to demonstrate how to reformulate the Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) model into an LPV one. The system is controlled using the model predictive control (MPC) with gain scheduling. The LPV formulation allows for obtaining improved robustness and performance properties. The results are verified by DC-DC boost converter numerical simulations.
