Direct Power Control Strategy to Enhance the Dynamic Behavior of DFIG during Voltage Dip

In this paper is proposed a direct power control strategy based on a rotor voltage equation and that does not ignore the flux transient and the stator voltage that will reduce peaks rotor current during the voltage dips. When there occurs a voltage sag at the stator of DFIG is produced high transients current in the stator and rotor that may damage the rotorside converter. Given that the new grid code rules state that a wind turbine generator must remain connected to the grid, while still maintaining the supply voltage with the supply of additional reactive power during voltage drops, makes the power converter vulnerable to voltage drops due to high spike currents. To reduce peaks stator and rotor current, the dynamics of the active and reactive stator power is improve from the control of rotor voltages using the stator-voltage-oriented reference frame. To verify the good performance and validate the control strategy propose, simulation results are presented.
