Operation Boundaries of a Single Phase Thyristor Driven DC-Motor

The focus of this work is the study of a DC motor driven by a full-bridge SCR thyristor rectifier. In order to highlight the nonlinear effects, a single-phase bridge with ideal components and instantaneous commutation was considered and the ohmic losses were neglected. The continuous and discontinuous modes of current conduction and their implications for static and dynamic behavior were explained. And, in addition to analytical expressions and the development of characteristics curves for steady-state operation, time-domain simulations and comparisons with the analytical results were made.
