Developement of a Multilevel DVR with Battery Control and Harmonic Compensation

This article presents a dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) composed by a multi-level H-Bridge cascading topology, also operating as a series active filter and as a battery charger. The integration of these functions is discussed in detail, as well as the concepts involving the topology used, modulation technique and voltage sag compensation techniques. The voltage sag compensation and harmonic voltage controls were based on PR controllers while the battery banks charging control was based on an incremental technique. The analysis of the response of the DVR controls was done through the simulation of a single-phase system using Simulink software.
