High Performance 5G Microstrip Dipole Antennas for 39GHz Band

In this paper, three microstrip dipole antennas are presented for future 5G communication Band. Microstrip dipoles are designed by using Copper, Gold, and Graphene as strip material. The three antennas are analyzed and compared to choose the effective material for 5G dipole antennas. The antennas are designed on the Teflon substrate to operate in the n260-5G (37-40GHz) Band. In comparison to Copper and Gold, Graphene dipole antenna exhibits better performance with astonishing Return Loss of −71.72dB, VSWR of 1.0005, Radiation Efficiency of 99.97%, Gain of 2.226dB and BW of 6.75GHz. Further, the effects of different substrate materials on Graphene dipole antenna are analyzed. It is seen that higher dielectric constant materials exhibit better efficiency but shows greater degradation in other antenna parameters. A 2x1 Graphene dipole array is also designed which provides an increased Gain of 4.244dB.
