Performance Analysis of a PCF SPR Based Highly Sensitive Biosensor

In this work, a hexagonal structured externally gold coated PCF biosensor is proposed with a wide sensing range. The sensor can detect analyte refractive index ranging from 1.33 to 1.43. The sensor performance is analyzed by finite element method (FEM) based software. From numerical analysis, it is shown that the maximum wavelength sensitivity and amplitude sensitivity for x- polarization are found as 29500 nm/RIU and 3060 RIU

, respectively. In the case of y- polarization, maximum wavelength sensitivity and amplitude sensitivity are 9500 nm/RIU and 1260 RIU
