Compression algorithm for relay protection equipment data

In the relay protection device, the HMI module generally directly drives the display through the CPU plus the liquid crystal driving chip. Due to the harsh EMC in the substation, the actual project found that this method is likely to cause abnormal screen display. To overcome this situation, we install the screen on a dedicated panel and connect to the HMI via the Ethernet port. At this time, the HMI needs to send the LCD dot matrix data to the panel to display. When the original LCD dot matrix data is directly transmitted, the amount of data transmitted is large, occupying a large amount of bandwidth. This paper proposes a FF0 lossless compression algorithm, which is specifically used for compression of such black and white lattice data. After compression by this algorithm, the average data transfer of black and white screens is reduced by 35% in actual engineering applications. In the best case, when using all black or all white screens, the amount of data transferred is only 0.78%.
