Designment of wireless power transmitting system with magnetic megahertz metamaterials

magnetically-coupled resonance is one of the most widely used technology for wireless power transmission (WPT). It has a relatively high efficiency but also gets the defect of limited transmission distance and ununiform distribution. Magnetic metamaterial has an ability on modulation of magnetic field. It becomes a promising way to improve performance of magnetic wireless power transmission. In this paper, we propose a transmitting system based on magnetic metamaterial around 6.78 megahertz. With effective medium theory, analysis is made for magnetic distributions with different permeability. Medium with near-zeros permeability can make magnetic distribute uniformly within metamaterial space. And in negative permeability situation, magnetic field concentrate in interface between metamaterial and air. Experiments result show these two effects and prove validity of our method.
