The Privacy Requirments for Wearable IoT Devices in Healthcare Domain

Today smart technology applications are affecting almost every aspect of our lives. The digital transformation wave enabled the achievement of daily activities and tasks in an easier and faster way. The rapid growth and the developments of the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and relevant applications has affected many domains, such as entertainment, industry education and healthcare. In healthcare, the use of Wearable IoT (WIoT) devices provided enhancement to the health services delivery and a new level of comprehensive healthcare to the patients. However, the use of this technology comes with its pros and cons. Using IoT technology involves colleting huge amount of critical data about the users and their environment. The collected information brings a diversity of privacy concerns. Nowadays, there is no specific technologies or frameworks that fully solve the privacy issues of such technology. This paper aims to explore current issues of individual privacy in the healthcare domain when using IoT technology with focus on the use of WIoT devices. We identify the privacy requirements of these devices and discuss the laws and regulations that aims to increase the privacy of wearables devices.
