Thermal-Electric Coupling Simulation of the Soft Connector for Vehicle Lithium-Ion Power Battery

The structure design of the fuse area in a soft connector for vehicle power lithium ion battery has important influence on the normal performance and safety of battery. Based on the thermal-electric coupling mathematical model, the finite element method(FEM) and experimental method are used to simulate and analyze the temperature field and electric field of a battery soft connector. The results show that the finite element model is feasible. Secondly, the temperature in the soft connector fuse area is the highest, which increases with the increasing of the input current and the decreasing of the cross-sectional area of it. In the same time, the highest electric current density occurs at the middle narrow area and increases with the decreasing of the cross-sectional area of it, moreover, the fuse structure with annular runway hole in the middle narrow area can be used as the final structure scheme. so it is of great significance to engineers to design reasonably the structure of soft connector fuse area to realize energy saving and cost reduction.
