A grating and side lobe suppression method for near range MIMO array

In near range multiple-input multiple-output array imaging, due to the sparsity and limited length of the array, there are high grating lobes and sidelobes in the imaging result, which greatly reduce the image quality. In this paper, aperture domain weighting is utilized to suppress the grating lobes and sidelobes. In order to effectively suppress them, the different weighting functions are used to weight the transmitting and receiving array prior to imaging. To overcome the mainlobe broadening caused by weighting without increasing the redundancy of the array, the multiapodization technology is adopted, which takes the minimum value of the imaging results weighted by different functions as the output for each pixel. The measured data verify its performance.
