Reflection Near-infrared Spectroscopic Method For Non-invasive Blood Glucose Measurement

The work is aimed at reflection near-infrared spectroscopic method for non-invasive blood glucose measurement theoretical and experimental research. Presented model of the method considers biological tissue as multi-layer with homogenous and isotropic layers with flat lambert boundaries. By the model, the equation allowing numerical calculation of blood glucose by photodiodes indications is obtained. The experimental setup contains semiconductor laser with 1600 nm wavelength, two InGaAs photodiodes and glucose solution in a cell with diffuse scattering backwall as object. It was shown that detected radiation attenuates with glucose level increasing that confirms possibility of glucose level determination by using 1600 nm reflection spectroscopy. However, to achieve the sufficient optical system sensitivity of 0.05 % from detected radiation, it is necessary to improve optical features of infrared semiconductor lasers, as well as data processing and control methods.
