Portable Microwave Imaging Head Scanners for Intracranial Haemorrhagic Detection

Two configurations for microwave brain imaging are presented in this paper. Both microwave imaging (MWI) head scanners feature antennas of compact size and relatively wide bandwidth of operation (from 0.5GHz to 2.0GHz). The antennas are spear-shaped printed monopoles, which are immersed in a glycerin-water mixture. A simplified head/brain model with and without a target representing blood is used to assess and compare the performance of the two MWI scanners.
