End-fire Dual Polarized 5G Millimeter-Wave Antenna Array for Mobile Devices

A dual-polarized millimeter-wave antenna array for 5G mobile devices is proposed with end-fire radiation. Patch antenna is folded to reduce the height of the design. Two L-shaped probes are used to excite the TM01 and TM10 mode of the patch antenna separately to realize dual polarizations. A four-element array is simulated to estimate its scanning property and it achieves a stable realized gain at around 10 dBi with ±45 degrees scanning range. The proposed design is based on multi-layer LTCC technology which can be easily integrated with RF chips.
