Modified Compact Broadband High Gain Defected Ground Plane Microstrip Antenna

A compact Broad band high gain microstrip antenna is realized by utilizing higher order patch as well ground modes along with the fundamental mode frequency of antenna. 3831 MHz bandwidth is obtained at 2811 MHz center frequency. Desired result is attained by introducing defects on ground plane without modifying the patch. Addition of slot on patch does not introduce any new mode here. The gain of the antenna is enhanced as the current distribution at resonant modes show unidirectional current flow due to ground slots. The maximum gain observed is 4dBi. Also more than 50% compactness is achieved with respect to conventional structure.
