The Micro-Scale Flow Simulation of a Hydro-Pneumatic Buffer for Launch Vehicle Landing Legs

A hydro-pneumatic buffer for the vertical landing of launch vehicles was designed , and its structures and operational principle were introduced. A two-dimensional micro-scale transient flow numerical model of a one-way damping valve was established by using dynamic grid and UDF technique , the micrometer-scale flow field rheological parameters of the damping valve were obtained , and the local vortex recirculation and pressure gradient were analyzed. The simulation results show that the one-way damping valve has a better damping effect than the conventional throttle damping rods,which can meet the requirements of large-scale launch vehicle landing legs.
