The Effect of Laser Energy and Applied Voltage on Terahertz Radiation Power of Photo-conductive Antenna

The gallium arsenide photo-conductive antennas (GaAs PCA) has been studied extensively and used widely as a terahertz source. The radiation efficiency of the photoconductive antennas is largely determined by the illuminated energy and the applied voltage. In order to enhance the radiation the power of the photoconductive antennas, the relationships between the power of the THz wave, laser energy and bias voltage were studied in our experiments. Based on the theoretical analysis and experiment results, we obtain a high power of THz radiation with high signal-to-noise ratio of 1037 under the optimum operation condition.
