A comparative study of RPG missile modeling for radar cross section analysis at 10 GHz

Radar cross section is evaluated for three different models of RPG-7 missile, each representing different levels of complexity. An approximate model, a detailed model without fins and a complete model with fins are used to investigate the effect of missile parts, shapes on the Radar cross section (RCS) and its computation time. The computations are based on bistatic simulation for horizontal polarization, at 10 GHz frequency. The RCS obtained at bow region, for the approximate model, full model without fins and complete model are -29.03 dBsm, -13.57 dBsm and -11.33 dBsm respectively. RCS simulations under both broadside and end on excitation are carried out for the models using the integral equation solver technique available in a commercial EM solver tool.
