Study of Coupling Scattering from Targets and the Rough Surface Based on the Efficient Numerical Scheme

Recently, a series of studies of the coupling scattering from targets and the rough surface based on the efficient numerical schemes have been performed. The schemes including the Propagation-Inside-Layer-Expansion (PILE) combined with the Forward-Backward Method (FBM) (EPILE + FBM), etc., are applied. The composite scattering formulations of EPILE+FBM applied to the specific targets and the rough surface are enumerated. Meanwhile, the emphasis is put on the investigation of influences from multiple parameters including the incident angle, wind speed, height, horizontal position, etc., on the total coupling scattering. Especially, for the composite case of a missile-like target located above and a cylinder target located below the rough sea surface, the typical scattering characteristics, such as the angular distribution and value of scattering peaks are discussed. The physical interpretations of the self-coupling from the target, from the rough sea surface, the mutual coupling between the target and the sea surface, etc., are decomposed and analyzed. The presented studies will be of considerable value for the domains, such as the remote sensing, radar surveillance, target recognition, and oceanic Engineering etc..
