Wiener-Hopf Analysis of the Diffraction by a Strip with Fractional Boundary Conditions

The problem of E -polarized plane wave diffraction by a strip with fractional boundary conditions (FBC) is analyzed using the Wiener-Hopf technique. Introducing the Fourier transform for the unknown scattered field and applying FBC, the problem is formulated in terms of the Wiener-Hopf equation. The Wiener-Hopf equation is solved via the factorization and decomposition procedure leading to the exact and asymptotic solution. Our final solution is valid for the case where the strip width is large in comparison to the wavelength. The scattered field is evaluated asymptotically based on the saddle point method and a far field expression is derived. Numerical examples on the radar cross section (RCS) are presented for various physical parameters and the scattering characteristics of the strip are discussed in detail.
