Nonlinear Wave Dynamics of Unstable Atherosclerotic Plaque

The improved Boussinesq equation (IBE) is proposed as the model of nonlinear dynamics of unstable atherosclerotic plaque. The parameter vector of the IBE-model of the field in the unstable plaque could be efficient feature basis for the classification of its unstable state. Developed on the basis of the similarity with optical systems, the nonlinear dynamics of unstable plaque made it possible to explain the origin and nature of the plaque vibrations, to establish the possibility of the onset of nonlinear resonance, as well as the soliton regime of long-lasting self-sustaining powerful vibrations. Conclusion on the possibility of the soliton regime of oscillations in the lipid core and the fibrous cap of unstable plaque is consistent with the recently established fact of the existence of a soliton traveling-wave mode in biological tissues, namely in the lipid structures of axons during the propagation of nerve impulses in them.
