Geometrically Nonlinear Analysis of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Functionally Graded Structures Integrated with Piezoelectric Materials

The paper develops a finite element (FE) model based on the first-order shear deformation (FOSD) hypothesis for static and dynamic analyses of piezoelectric integrated carbon nanotube reinforced functionally graded (P-CNT-FG) structures. The FE model considers fully geometrically nonlinear phenomenon with finite rotations. Four different distribution types of CNTs are considered, namely uniform distribution (FG-U), V-shaped distribution (FG-V), O-shaped distribution (FG-O), X-shaped distribution (FG-X). First, the nonlinear model is validated by the examples from the literature. Afterwards, it is applied to the computation of cylindrical piezoelectric integrated CNT reinforced functionally graded structure.
