Smart Radar Sensors for Critical Sites Protection

In this paper, we present high performances Smart Radar Sensors (SRS) with multiple features and operating mode capabilities useful for easily and effectively protecting large open sites by detecting and tracking moving or stationary targets both inside and outside the protected site. Practical tests have shown that the radar prototypes worked properly with high performances, especially in terms of target detection and ranging. Lastly, we compared the size of our prototypes with the average size of various sensors using different antenna technologies. We found that our prototypes had the advantage of small size and flatness, with similar performances in terms of gain and maximum detection range. Currently, the mechanical part of the sensors, in particular the rotating reflector section, remains to be engineered.
