Development of High Speed Flashing Line Display Using Eyeball Movement

In this paper, we developed a saccade type line display with 64 LEDs which realized high speed flashing. The developed line display consists of four printed circuit boards each of which flashes 16 LEDs and an AVR microcomputer which transfers image data to each circuit board. All the transferred image data were processed in parallel. As a result, the refresh time could be shortened to 42 (μs) per one line image. We found that the most perceivable flashing period was from 0.3 to 0.5 (ms) by the experiment. As a result, the five-level gray scale by PWM was achieved.
