Exploring polarization independent plasmon induced transparency in a planar terahertz metamaterial

We numerically examine plasmon induced transparency (PIT) in planar terahertz metamaterials comprising of four U-shaped resonators and a cross-wire like structure. The plasmon induced transparency effect is studied for two orthogonal polarization of incident terahertz radiation. The proposed geometry is found to exhibit strong PIT effect for both the polarizations indicating a polarization independent response to the incident terahertz. It is further observed that the transparency window can be modulated based upon the positioning of U-shaped resonators from the cross-wire structure.
