Design, Simulation and Implementation of UWB Wearable Antenna

Design of circular patch antenna with diamond slot is proposed and used for medical application. The antenna is designed to operate in resonant frequency of 4.8GHz which is made to cover and function in the frequency range from 2GHz to 7GHz. The cloth fabric materials are used as substrate. Three different types of cloth fabric material are used namely, jeans, cotton and cordura considering its dielectric constant. Ansoft HFSS software tool is used for designing and simulation. Optimization of the wearable antenna design is done using finite element method using HFSS. The designed wearable antenna is placed in close to human body for investigation. The parameters considered for evaluating the results are efficiency, VSWR, SAR (Specific-absorption rate) and S-parameter. The designed antenna prototype is fabricated and tested for three different fabric material; jeans, cotton and cordura. The results show good performance for jeans material. Comparative study between simulated and measured result is done.
