Comparing Performance of Cabin Suspension System for a Vibratory Roller with Optimal Control Methods

This study applies a half-vehicle model for a vibratory roller using the control and passive suspension systems of the cabin to assess the effectiveness of the optimal control methods. By using Matlab/Simulink software and multi-objective genetic algorithm, three optimal control methods of the cabin suspension systems including optimal isolation mounts, optimal PID control, and FLC-PID control are simulated and analyzed the results, respectively. The research results show that the cabin suspension systems using optimal control methods reduced the transmitted vibration from the chassis as well as enhanced the ride quality of the cabin when the vehicle works under different conditions. In particular, in all the simulation studies, it is found that FLC-PID control surpasses the other types of control.
