Temporal Envelope Estimation of Stator Current by Peaks Detection for IM Fault Diagnosis

This paper presents a simple and reliable method to extract the temporal envelope of the stator current for induction motor fault diagnosis. The proposed method is based on the detection of the prominent peaks of the stator current and the desired envelope is obtained by spline interpolation. This method is theoretically introduced and experimentally validated by testing three induction motors: under different load conditions. Experimental results performed under various operational situations show the effectiveness of the proposed method against the Hilbert Transform to show that the proposed method successfully for detecting the fault.
