Modified 802.11b for Co-operative Ad-hoc Networks

Cooperative Communication (CC) allows the transmission of information by collaborating different nodes in the network by effective utilization of communication resources. In this paper, a new methodology for relay selection has been proposed where the relay is chosen based on the highest channel capacity of the node with the neighboring nodes as well as destination node. A new frame format ready to forward (RTF) has been proposed to enhance the communication by selecting the relay in a decentralized method. The existing RTS and CTS are modified to support cooperative ad-hoc network.
