Sequential Detection of Location Verification Based on Double Thresholds

Location information is ubiquitous in wireless networks and the authentication of such information is becoming increasingly important. Especially in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), authentication of location information is of critical importance to the safety and security of the system vehicles. In this work, we first use sequential detection to the location verification algorithm. We analyze the false positive rate (the probability that a legitimate vehicle is detected incorrectly) and the detection rate (the probability that malicious vehicle is detected correctly) to test the performance of the sequential location verification algorithm. The traditional single threshold detection algorithm has poor detection performance under the condition of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). To fill in this gap, we also proposed the double thresholds detection in location verification system. The double thresholds detection technology can reduce the influence of noise on detection performance and make the location verification result more reliable. Experimental results illustrate that the sequential detection of double thresholds based location verification system (SD-LVS) has advantages over other location verification systems (LVSs). The methods in this paper are useful for a series of location-based applications.
