Optimal Charging Scheduling of Electrical Vehicles in a Residential Microgrid based on RES

In the light of present-day climate evolution, the transition towards a clean urban transport is mandatory. Residential charging stations for electrical vehicles (EVs), when being supplied by renewable energy sources (RES) like wind and photovoltaic represent a strong alternative to classical ones. As both aforementioned renewable energy sources and domestic consumers exhibit significant power variations, determining the optimal charging interval for one or more EVs is of real interest in terms of costs and system reliability. For a proposed and studied Residential RES based microgrid (MG), simulations using HOMER Pro software are performed to yield the most appropriate period when the electric car battery should be charged. The simulations are enhanced by experimental determinations.
