A Study of Introduction of the Photovoltaic Generation System to Conventional Railway

In East Japan Railway Company, photovoltaic generation system has so far introduced to reduce CO
₂
emissions. However, we probably won't reach our goal and if this keeps on. Therefore, we need to introduce more photovoltaic generation system. In this paper, we calculate the photovoltaic generation capacity and compare the photovoltaic output and the electrical consumption when solar panels put on the roofs of railroad stations, train centers and substations. The results shows there is a possibility that the reverse flow occurs and generated power is consumed in the traction line or distribution line.
